CARLSBAD HIGH SCHOOL HOSTS PHOTOGRAPHER AARON CHANG

March 20, 2009

At 10:00 am this morning, a captive audience of 200 eager Digital Photography students packed an auditorium at Carlsbad High to hear Aaron Chang speak on his career and experiences in photography. In an open "Q and A"forum, he answered questions for students. Aaron was impressed with some very good, if not challenging questions the students had about his work. Aaron, armed with a collection of digital images, presented a slideshow of to share with the students. Images ranged from nature, water and beach shots to shots of people, snowboarders and surfers. Aaron commented, "they seemed most impressed with the people shots". One of the students in attendance had even come into the gallery with his family the weekend prior to Aaron's appearance at the high school.  Aaron believes strongly in giving back and is always willing to give talks and presentations, especially where it could possibly benefits kids and their aspirations. AARON CHANG TEAMS UP WITH AZTEC GRAPHICS IN SUPPORT OF A GOOD CAUSE

March 12, 2009
Photographer and gallery owner Aaron Chang appeared at Aztec Graphics in San Diego in support of a very worthy cause. It was an impressive turn out of fans and supporters of Aaron's photography at the March 12 print-signing event @ Aztec Graphics gallery on Garnet Ave. The event, hosted by gallery owners Rick and Barbara Bailey (along with their children Tim and Julia), was to benefit friendsofscott.org, a non-profit foundation in support of children with cancer. Barbara says that the event was "a great success" and that Aaron was very well received.

Happenings

Scott Hancock, left, Aaron Chang, right.

Aaron Chang met with Scott Hancock and friend Grant of the Glue Network www.gluenetwork.com today to photograph a very whimsical and large scale collaboration live art mural painted by six talented artists at the Las Vegas "Magic" convention. The artwork titled, "Hope Farmers" was purchased by the CEO of Kangol hat company and will appear in his LA showroom. Aaron has been asked to apply his expert PhotoShop skills to piece together each of the six sections of the mural to make a poster of the piece, using photographs that he took at his Solana Beach Gallery.  A large percentage of the proceeds of the sale will go to the Las Vegas chapter of standupforkids.org , a non-profit organization that helps homeless, at-risk kids. For details and a video of the making of the piece check out this link. http://vimeo.com/3570585

AARON CHANG GALLERY OPENING PARTY
February 28, 2009

Saturday night Solana Beach lit up with the opening party for the Aaron Chang Gallery. Over 600 people turned out for the inaugural event, one of the largest turnouts the Cedros area has seen. As part of the Aaron's continued efforts to give back, 10% of the evening's sales were donated to the Surfrider Foundation. Starting at 5 and peaking at 9pm hundreds of people passed thought the space to see a combination of Aaron's classics mixed with new works, some shot as recently as last month. Aaron was blown away with the reception and thankful for all the people that made the event one of the highlights of his career.

Special thanks to Barefoot Wine for sponsoring the event. Thank you to Mae Chan for the beautiful flowers. Thanks to Barbara and Dan McFarland, and to Holly, Fred and Zack Burch for their generous support. Thanks to the crew at Digital 1 for the beautiful prints and Yael and Jim at Once Upon a Frame for the extraordinary framing.  And to all our friends, too many to mention, for their love and support, "We couldn't have done it without you!"
